The Greek pianist Papathanassiou was born on March 29, 1943, near the city of Volos in central Greece, and started playing the piano at age 4. In 1981, he had a huge breakthrough with the score for “Chariots of Fire”, a film about two runners in the 1920s. He played in a number of bands and solos before getting his big break in 1981.
