Sonia Calls Upon A Meeting Of Opposition Parties On May 22 To Discuss, Migrant Workers Difficulty

Congress President Sonia Gandhi Has called upon a meeting of all the opposition parties to discuss the coronavirus matter and to discuss Migrant workers facing difficulty as well.

Nearly two months after the government announced a lockdown on March 2, Congress President Sonia Gandhi Has called upon a meeting of all the opposition parties to discuss the coronavirus matter and to discuss Migrant workers facing difficulty as well. Though Congress had firstly extended its support to the Modi government, is now very critical of the handling of the migrant workers’ crisis.

They said Gandhi would Set meeting May 22 via Video Calling, which is expected to be held at 3 pm. Meeting Set just a few days after the Centre announced an economic stimulus package comprising a slew of reforms such as opening up the defence sector and aerospace and relaxation of labour laws among others.

“After the start of Lockdown 1.0, Opposition leaders like CPI(M) ‘s Sitaram Yechury and West Bengal Chief Minister had been pushing for an all Opposition parties meeting, but it kept getting delayed, Source” – The Hindu.  Ms Gandhi has now, once again taken a new step to bring Opposition leaders together.

Sources said JMM leader Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, NCP chief Sharad Pawar, TMC chief and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, CPI-M’s Sitaram Yechury, DMK leader MK Stalin, RJD’s Tejashwi Yadav are among leaders from 20 parties likely to be the part of the meeting.
