A wild pregnant elephant in Kerala became the victim of human cruelty. A wild elephant in Kerala’s Silent Valley Forest died after a cracker filled pineapple exploded in her mouth. A senior forest officer said that the elephant died after she chewed on it.
When the elephant attempted to chew the pineapple, the pineapple exploded in her mouth. As a result, her jaw was brown, and she was not able to eat anything further. Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Wildlife) and Chief Wildlife Warden Surendrakumar said that someone has surely offered her pineapple filled with crackers to eliminate her willfully.
This incident of an explosion in the elephant’s mouth took place in the Silent Valley in Attappadi. The elephant lost her life on May 27 at Velliyar River in Malappuram district, Mr. Surendrakumar said. The post mortem report showed that the elephant was pregnant. Further, he said that he had directed the forest officials to catch the culprit of this inhuman act. Also, he added that the culprit would be punished for hunting the elephant.
Mohan Krishnan, a forest officer, posted an emotional Facebook post after he came to know about the brutal incident. He narrated the entire episode of the death of the elephant in the waters of the Velliyar River. M. Krishnan brought back the body of the elephant to the shore. Also, he found the elephant standing in the river with her head dipped in the water. The elephant had the sixth sense that she is going to die, Mohan Krishnan said. She took the Jalsamadhi in the river in standing position, he added.
