The Ministry of Home Affairs blacklisted 2500 members of Tablighi Jamaat. These 2500 foreigners were staying in India during the nationwide lockdown. Moreover, these foreigners were staying in violation of visa-rules in India. Officials on Thursday said that these foreigners are restricted from entering the country for the next ten years.
Various State Governments have provided details of these Tablighi Jamaat members to the Central Government. Further, the central government acted based on the information provided by the State Governments. These foreigners were staying illegally in religious ceremonies and the Mosques in India, the State Governments said.
The Home Ministry Official said that these Tablighi Jamaat members are banned from entering India for the next ten years. First, the Home Ministry acted against 2300 members of Tablighi Jamaat. Further, these 2300 members included 250 foreigners who were staying in the headquarters of Tablighi Jamaat at Delhi’s Nizamuddin.
These members illegally stayed in the religious places after the nationwide lockdown was announced on March 24. Also, various persons out of these members tested positive for Coronavirus.
