Kochi: Stranded in Maldives Island, 588 Indians returns on Sunday (May 17, 2020)with the help of Indian Navy’s INS. The Navy ship left the Male port in the Maldives on Saturday.
The 588 citizens (497 males, 70 women and 21 children), among which six pregnant Ladies were also there. Taking to Twitter, India Navy informed about the successful evacuation and said,

Among the ones who returned include 568 from Kerala and the rest from Tamil Nadu, Telangana and Lakshadweep. This is the second round trip of INS Jalashwa, which earlier came with 698 people on May 12. This is a segment of the Operation Samudra Setu which is the rescue of Indian nationals from foreign shores by sea.
In total, 1488 Indians from 22 states have been evacuated from the Maldives as of now, which includes 205 women, 133 pregnant/medical cases & 38 children.

Those who have arrived were screened adequately by health officials and those showing any symptoms will be moved to COVID hospitals, while the others will be in quarantine at their homes for two weeks. Those hailing from other districts will soon be sent to their home districts in state transport buses.
An evacuation flight from Male’ has also been scheduled for Bengaluru on May 22 and Delhi on May 23.
