Bollywood personalities such as filmmaker Hansal Mehta and actors Pooja Bhatt and Suchitra Krishnamoorthi have expressed solidarity with Shah Rukh Khan after the superstar’s son, Aryan Khan, was arrested by the Bureau of Narcotics Control (NCB) in connection with with a drug case.
The NCB arrested a drug party aboard a cruise ship off the coast of Mumbai and arrested Aryan and seven others on Sunday. The 23-year-old was in the custody of the NCB until October 4.
Hours after Aryan’s arrest, his close friend and superstar Salman Khan came to Shah Rukh’s residence, Mannat, to visit him. While Salman has so far been the only one to visit the 55-year-old actor, the superstar’s colleagues have joined him on social media.
Mehta took to Twitter and wrote that it was “painful” when people came to pass judgment on children, adding that she supports Shah Rukh during the difficult time.
“It is painful for a parent to have to deal with a child who gets into trouble. It is compounded when people start making judgments before the law takes its course. It is disrespectful and unfair to parents and the relationship between parents and children. With you @iamsrk, “wrote the director of” Scam 1992 “.
Bhatt, who worked with Shah Rukh on the 1996 film “Chaahat,” took to Twitter on Sunday night and wrote: “I stand in solidarity with you @iamsrk. Not that you need it. But I do it. This too will pass. “Hours before the arrest of Aryan, Shah Rukh’s“ Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa ”co-star Suchitra Krishnamoorthi tweeted that she is praying for the family.“ There is nothing more difficult for a father than to see his son. in danger. Prayers for all, “he wrote.
In a subsequent tweet, Krishnamoorthi pointed out how the Hindi film industry ends up becoming an unfortunate soft target.
“For all those targeting #Bollywood, remember all the #NCB raids on movie stars? Yes, nothing was found and nothing was proven. # Gaping Bollywood is a tamasha. It is the price of fame (sic) ”, he added.
During a promotional event in Delhi on Sunday, actor Suniel Shetty also shared his views on the intense media scrutiny of Bollywood. Before Aryan was arrested, Shetty urged people to “give the boy a break.”
“Whenever something happens in the industry, the media does everything possible. Give the child a try. Let the actual reports out. He is a child, taking care of him is our responsibility ”, said the actor to the press.
The NCB team, led by its area director, Sameer Wankhede, raided the Goa-bound ship on Saturday night based on a tip that a party was scheduled on board. Detectives seized 13 grams of cocaine, five grams of MD, 21 grams of charas and 22 ecstasy pills and Rs 1.33 lakh.
On Sunday, the NCB said it had evidence suggesting a link between three people it had arrested, including Aryans, and vendors and street vendors of regularly prohibited drugs and narcotic substances. “The prima facie investigation conducted by the NCB reveals that there is incriminating material in the form of WhatsApp chats and others that clearly shows the link with the arrested defendant (Aryan Khan and two others) with vendors and street vendors on a regular basis,” said the NCB said in their return note.
