The former Governor of New Jersey passed away on Sunday, 25th September 2022. At the time of death, James Florio was 85 years old. James’s son Chris Florio stated that James passed away due to heart failure. James was admitted to a hospital in Voorhees, New Jersey, at the time of his death. He was going through treatment for the same.

There is no official statement or information about James funeral arrangements. The family is said to be informed about the same in the upcoming days. The current governor of New Jersey, Phill Murphy, confirmed his death on Monday. The official statement from the governor’s office was also released.
Who was James Florio?
James Florio was born on 29th August 1937 in New York City, United States. He was a congressman before and from 1981 belonged to the Democratic Party. He was first elected as governor of New Jersey from 1990 to 1994. From 1970 to 1975, Florio was a part of the New Jersey General Assembly.
He was also a United States House of Representatives member from 1975 to 1990. He lost in the 1981 general assembly election with a close margin in New Jersey.

He graduated in social studies from Trenton State College in 1962. He studied public law and governance at Columbia University under a fellowship. Before stepping into politics, he served in the United States Navy as lieutenant Commander.
James was married two times. His first marriage was with Maryanne Spaeth. They eventually got divorced. He later married Lucinda Coleman in 1988. He had three children.
