She was a well-known South African singer and songwriter. She had won too many awards for her singing & songwriting like the first SABC Crown Gospel Music award in the Best Female Artist category, among other awards SAMA for the best gospel, Metro award for the best gospel, and Kora for best gospel artist. Career Details of Deborah Fraser

In 1985, she began her career as a backing singer, and in 2000, she recorded her own album titled Abanye bayombona, which has sold over 1 million copies. It contains 14 songs, including “Ngeke ngiyeke ukuthandaza,” the album’s biggest hit. After moving to Johannesburg in 1984, Fraser worked as a backup vocalist for Ladysmith Black Mambazo, Lucky Dube, Brenda Fassie, Hugh Masekela, and Jonas Gwangwa. In the year 2000, Fraser released her first studio album, Abanye Bayombona. The 23rd Academy of South African Music Awards recognized her album Uhambo as the Best Traditional Faith Album. On 12 April 2019, she released her studio album OkaJehova Akanqotswa.

She was suffering from serious illness and on 15th May 2022, she was admitted to a private hospital in South Africa. After suffering a stroke, she died at Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital on 15 May 2022.

He was married to Nigerian pastor Sockey Okeke, and, in October 2021, he was awarded a doctorate of philosophy in sacred music through Trinity International Bible University. Her parent’s name was Catherine Tshabalala-Fraser. She had a child named Mbuso Fraser.
