A disgusting and an awful incident took place in Delhi Chhawla. A 90-year-old woman raped, assaulted in Najafgarh area of Chhawla in the national capital, the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) said. The horrifying incident took place on September 7.
The accused has identified as a 33-year-old man. The name of the accused is Sonu. He is a resident of Rewla Khanpur area of Delhi. DCW tweeted that accused got arrested, and an FIR registered.
The victim forcefully taken from her house and raped brutally said DCW chief Swati Maliwal. The 90-year-old suffered a lot of injuries due to rape. She busted in tears when Maliwal met her. She begged for justice and sought the death penalty. The sufferer narrated the incident and mentioned that she pleaded to the 33-year-old for mercy as she is like his grandmother.
The rape took place on a two-km deserted route said by DCW. People gathered around after hearing the woman’s scream, and the accused caught red-handed after which people informed the police.
Police record stated that the accused was intoxicated. In this case, the police have registered a case. The police also arrested the accused under sections 376 and 363 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
The rape cases are picking up the graph day by day. According to the National Crime Records Bureau, 33,977 rape cases police registered in 2018 in India. This workout that in every 15 minutes, a rape occurred in India. The campaigners claims the actual number must be high as most of the rape cases don’t get registered.
