 Villagers Of Utter Pradesh Captive Corocodile and Demanded 50,000

The Midania village in Lakhimpur Kheri district of Uttar Pradesh witnessed an unusual incident. Around three days ago a crocodile washed away in floodwater into the pond of the village. The villagers got anger on the delayed response of the forest officials regarding the situation. They then decided to rescue three crocodiles on their own. After rescuing the villegers ransom 50,000 to release the crocodile.

The village of Midania situated around 50 km from Lakhimpur Kheri, right next to the buffer forests of the Dudhwa Tiger Reserve. The bizarre incident took place on September 8.

The Bizarre Crocodile Incident

At first, place the villagers informed the forest department about the situation. They then took the operation in their hands and blamed that the forest officials did not reach on time.

The situation created a panic environment in the village. The villagers panicked because crocodile was dangerous for the villagers and children. They had removed water hyacinths and cleared the pond to rescue the crocodile. Then tied it to a leash. Total of 15 people was involved in the rescue mission.

The villagers demanded money as they say it was the work of forest officials which they had to do because of the delay. They said that they are deserving of reward as they jeopardised their lives in resuing.

Anil Patel, Deputy Director of Dudhwa Tiger Reserve’s buffer areas, said that villagers ransom money to hand over the crocodile to the officials. The village head also handed the list containing names of 15 people who rescued the animal. He also mentioned that the argument took place for hours until the police arrived. The police then convinced the villagers to hand over the crocodile otherwise, legal action would take place. After retaining the crocodile, officials released the it in the Ghaghra river.
