On Tuesday, 8th January, Akamai VP & CTO, John Summers, stated that the company would acquire Janrain which would help the company to improve its security access and enable better web experiences. However, the company has not released the Financial details of the acquisition.
Janrain provides its clients with access management and customer identity solution. The company was started in 2002 and created a social login which uses social networking services to authenticate the users. Coca-Cola, Samsung, BBC, and Illy are one of its many clients.
The acquired company in its six rounds of funding has raised a total of $79.8 million.
The company also has a product called Janrain Identity Cloud which would probably merge with the Akamai Intelligent Platform. The company stated that the acquisition would boost its security and performance solutions.
Akamai would merge the Janrain’s technologies with its Bot Manager which protects is customers from login page attacks.
Akamai is expected to close this deal in the first quarter of this financial year.
