Facebook launched a new app called Lasso which would be a rival to the popular application from China called TikTok. Tiktok allows users to take 15-second video which is very popular among teens. Musical.ly recently merged with TikTok to create a bigger user base. Facebook is looking to target the teens as they do not prefer social network anymore.

The Social media giant is looking to capture the teen demographic again by offering Lasso. The company has not yet made a big deal of the launch and has released it quietly in the market.

Lasso allows a user to record videos of themselves lip-syncing to music which is very similar to what TikTok allows its user to do.

Facebook’s spokesperson told The Verge “ Lasso is an app for creating short-form videos which range from comedy to fitness to beauty.”

Facebook is excited about the potential in Lasso, and they are gathering feedback from users.

Users can sign in to Lasso with their Facebook and Instagram account. A user can also share the videos they created in Lasso in Instagram stories and Facebook stories.
